where there is a will....

There haven't been many updates recently because the weather has continued to make riding an intermittant activity. Last weekend was an example where I managed to do some groundwork on one day only.

This weekend started with gales on Saturday, although the threat of rain stayed just that ... a threat. In the addition to the high winds, we had a large yellow digger in the field by the school. It was there to level the ground for a new shelter that has been in the plan for sometime, but delayed by bureaucracy, weather etc etc And on top of that, I had a mild migraine. Not really a day to try sitting on a horse :(

They got most of the work done on Saturday, but had the spoil heap to sort out. Sunday dawned with less wind, and no rain - woohoo time to ride ! Ah - but there is about to be a LARGE JCB right outside the school and blocking the gate...

OK - so Plan B - ride in the paddock that is currently being rested. Some slight issues with this - it isn't exactly flat. Oh, and I haven't ridden Fi outside of the arena and on a non-flat surface for oh... a couple of years ?!?!

But actually she was a star, though she obviously found the slopes a bit of a challenge so we stuck to walk and a bit of trot. (She has DJD and seems to end up with other legs a bit sore and stiff - probably as a result of trying to manage the stiff joint on the left hind).

Rosie was also a bit put out with the change of routine and voiced her opinions as usual - but did knuckle down to some work.

I lunged Dudley briefly and he proceeded to behave like he had lost the "twenty" part of his age and seemed to be having great fun. He is looking great at the moment having shed most of his winter coat, and being pretty much spot on for condition.

So the weekend wasn't a complete washout.
